External Sales Representative

As an External Sales Representative at GFS Imports (PTY) Ltd, you will play a key role in driving the growth of our business by engaging with potential and existing clients. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, promoting our products and services, and building strong relationships with clients in the import/export sector. Your ability to understand client needs, offer tailored solutions, and close deals will be essential in achieving sales targets and contributing to the company’s overall success.

Responsibilities

These responsibilities require strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a good understanding of the import regulations and trade agreements relevant to South Africa.

Client Acquisition and Relationship Management

  • Identifying potential clients and building strong relationships with existing customers to foster loyalty and repeat business.

Market Research

  • Analyzing market trends, competitors, and consumer preferences to identify new business opportunities and inform sales strategies.

Product Knowledge

  • Maintaining a deep understanding of the products being imported, including specifications, pricing, and unique selling points, to effectively communicate with clients.

Sales Presentations

  • Conducting presentations and demonstrations to showcase products and their benefits, tailored to the needs of different clients.

Negotiation

  • Negotiating terms of sale, pricing, and contracts to close deals while ensuring profitability for the company.

Sales Targets

  • Meeting or exceeding sales targets and objectives set by management, often through strategic planning and execution of sales activities.

Reporting

  • Providing regular updates and reports on sales activities, market conditions, and customer feedback to management.

Collaboration

  • Working closely with internal teams (like marketing, logistics, and finance) to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

Customer Service

  • Addressing client inquiries, complaints, and issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Travel

  • Traveling frequently to meet clients, attend trade shows, and explore new markets, which is essential in a geographically diverse country like South Africa.

Desired qualifications and experience

Educational Background

  • A degree or diploma in business, marketing, international trade, or a related field.

Sales Experience

  • Previous experience in sales, particularly in the imports or logistics sectors, is highly valued. A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
